Since 2009, Guodian Technology & Environment Co., Ltd. (GTEC) has maintained a fully developed strategy for its role in the Photovoltaic (PV) Industry. It has adopted the strategy of having an integrated value chain, through overall planning and step implementation. After completing a crystalline silicon purification project, GTEC setup GD Solar (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. (GD Solar) in April 2010, with a planned capacity of 1.2 Gigawatt per year. It has 360 million registration capital and 107 hectares of land. The new plant serves as a base for the PV industry in the region by integrating manufacturers, universities and governmental institutes in one area. The total investment will be 8 billion in 2012. The regional PV cluster concentrated around the GD Solar plant covers the entire vertical PV value chain from ingot casting, rod drawing, and wafer production to solar cell manufacturing, solar module assembly and PV system integration through to the construction and operation of solar power plants. GD Solar is striving to become, in the near future, one of the premier internationally recognizable enterprises in the PV industry through its R&D capability and its ability to provide an end-to-end solution for both crystalline silicon cell and thin film products.
